How To Reach Ayodhya?

The Ayodhya Railway Station is well developed and connected. You can book train to Ayodhya Junction or Faizabad Junction. If you are planning a road trip from Delhi the distance is 635 km you can choose google map, Lucknow expressway is better but 688 Km. If you are planning by air nearest airport is Gorakhpur airport which is 118 Km but the big airport with more flights is Lucknow airport.

Where To Book Stay In Ayodhya?

You can book your stay near railway station as many dharmshalas are there, you may find a stay in just Rs 300. If you want to stay in good hotel you may need to stay away from main city, We stayed in kohinoor hotel which was in faizabad.

Kanak Bhawan is to the north-east of Ram Janam Bhumi, Ramkot, in Ayodhya. Kanak Bhawan is one of the finest and famous temples in Ayodhya and is a must visit. This Bhawan is believed to have been gifted to Devi Sita by Kaikei immediately after her marriage to Lord Ram. This is private palace of Devi Sita and Lord Rama. This structure is also known as Sone-ka-ghar meaning house of gold as there are several idols of Lord Ram and Sita  in the Bhavan wearing gold crowns. These idols are also adorned with beautiful gold jewellery and accessories that make the ambience of the Bhavan absolutely amazing.

Shri Ram Janma Bhoomi is the place where Lord Ram had taken birth and is considered highly religious amongst Hindus. It is said that the temple at the original place of Lord Ram’s birth was demolished by the Mughal Emperor Babar in 1528 AD., after which a mosque was erected at the same site. In 1992, even this mosque was demolished and ever since, this site has been a topic of dispute amongst Hindus and Muslims. The Construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya started after the Historic Judgement of the Supreme Court in 2019. After that groundbreaking and foundation stone was laid on 5th August 2020 and Construction was initiated with bricks carved Jai Shree Ram on it. Temple will be open from 23rd January 2023 and you can visit one of its kind one of the biggest temples of India.

Hanuman Garhi is 1 km from Ayodhya railway station. Vikramaditya got a temple constructed which later on came to be known as Hanuman Garhi. It is believed that Lord Hanuman (Pavan Putra) lived here guard Ayodhya. The shape of the temple is that of a fort and is situated in the center of the town. This popular place of worship amongst tourists is highly revered and you will have to climb 76 steps to get to the temple. It is said that Lord Hanuman stayed here in a cave and watched over and protected Ramkot, the place where Lord Ram was born. We went here in Evening at Aarti time and that time it was looking superb, kirtan voice was awesome. There is a mahant in this temple and it is said he is so powerful you must take his aashirvad.

Ram ki Paidi is a series of ghats on the bank of River Saryu. The river front brings forth an outstanding Landscape especially in floodlit night. These serve as platforms to devotees who it is said, come to wash away their sins by taking a dip in the river. Saryu aarti is performed here at 5 PM daily. Deepotsav is also held at this place.

Tulsi Udyan is a garden park. It was set up as a memorial to a great saint and poet Tulsi Das, the devotee and the creator of the Epic Shri Ram Charit Manas. The statue of Tulsi Das has also been installed under a beautifully carved canopy in the garden. Tulsi Udyan is a famous garden in Ayodhya. Previously, the place was called Victoria Park and had an idol of Queen Victoria at the center of the park. An idol of Goswami Tulsidas was erected in the park in the year 1960 and later on was renamed and known as Tulsi Udyan. The Park is very peaceful and is a great place to spend some time and regain your energy

This place is famous for sunrise and sunset here Lord Ram would meditate and took a Jal Samadhi in the water of the river, after which he attained vaikuntha. After attaining this state, he left the human body to go back to heaven as Lord Vishnu. Many Hindus visit this place as a part of their pilgrimage. The place consists of several other ghats that were built in the 19th century which led the way towards the river. On top of these steps is a temple that is dedicated to Lord Ram and Sita. You can also find here the Chakrahari shrine and Narsingh Temple.

As the name says this was the place where Raja Dashrath resided. At present, the place houses a shrine with Lord Ram, along with Lakshmana and Sita as the main deities. The Bhawan, also known as Bada Asthan or Badi Jagah, boasts a magnificent collection of shrines depicting Lord Ram and Sita. The palace is stunning with beautiful paintings and decorations right from the time you enter the Bhawan. The entrance is adorned with ornamented decorations that will definitely catch your attention. Inside the palace, in the courtyards you can see several monks wearing their saffron garments, chanting mantras or simply meditating.

Best Time To Visit Ayodhya

You can visit Ayodhya in winters as this is in Uttar Pradesh which is a hot destination in summers. If you are planning in 2023 you can also visit in Feburary or Janurary 23rd for temple inauguration. October To March is good time to visit here.

Ayodhya is one of those cities where I would like to walk endlessly and lose myself in its nooks and corners. Faith and devotion oozed out of every lane. there are many temples apart from what I have mentioned here.
