I was nervous and excited at the same time I was nervous because I needed to figure out where to head for my luggage and where to get my boarding pass check and other miscellaneous things. The joy and excitement of being in flight and enjoying the view from above the mountains was at its peak.
Although I realized traveling alone by flight is not typical, just reaching the airport on time was everything I needed to take care of. The staff at the airport is always so gentle and ready to help you. There are many terminals on Delhi Airport.
I wanted a window seat as I have seen lot of Instagram post about it. My journey was 2 hours long but it didn’t feel so long after I got comfortable at my seat. Before the landing of the flight, I will given the belt number where my luggage would arrive.
I collected my luggage from the airport and headed towards the departure Gate. In all my first flight experience was more simplified than I thought but the View from the airplane was worth my excitement and wait.

Types Of Flights ( Turkey Airline Review)

There are two types of flights domestic and international flight. The domestic flight has arrival and departure both in the same country but the cities are different. For an international flight, the arrival and departure countries are different.
Both Domestic and international flights provide economy and business class. The economic class is for the general category while the business class is luxurious. During boarding at the airport for flight there are separate queues for economy and business class. The business class even provides the facility of a lounge at the airport. It is quite expensive in comparison to economy class.

How to book Flight?

Booking a flight for the first time is a typical task. Just by following a few steps the process of booking a flight becomes easy. Before starting the process of booking a ticket the vision for when to travel, where to travel, and the number of people traveling should be clear.
There are 2 main things to consider first is comfort and second is time while booking Flight. Nowadays multiple websites are available to book tickets online. I will list down detailed process of some popular websites

• MakeMyTrip: On the makemytrip app or website choose the option of flights. Search for the departure City and the arrival City. Choose the date of travel and hit on the search option. A list of multiple flights along with arrival and departure times and costs will be displayed. Click on book now button on the most suitable flight. It will be directly on another window where discount coupons can be applied. On feeling some personal details and clicking on the confirm button it will be directed to the payments page. After a successful transition, an email will be sent for ticket confirmation. 
• GoiBibo: Similar to makemytrip the goiBibo application can be accessed by an app or website. In the flight section in goiBibo look for the arrival and departure City. Choose the departure day and click on the search flights button. A list of multiple slices by different Airlines will be displayed. In case of any updation in the search result the update search button can be lived to modify the search results. Click on view fare then the book now option applies for any promo code for the discount on the flight ticket. Enter the basic details and click on the proceed button for payment successful payment an email will be generated containing the confirmation of the flight ticket. 
• Skyscanner: The Skyscanner is best for comparison of flights In terms of expense and time. Just simply enter the departure and arrival destination along with the dates and then click on the search button. A list of multiple airlines on that day will be displayed and the list can be sorted based on cheapest to expensive or quickest. Enter the personal details and promo code for the discount and proceed to the transaction. On successful transaction, the flight ticket will be mailed which is required at the time of check-in in the airport.

Documents To Carry

While traveling on a domestic flight documents like either hard or soft copies of the airplane confirmation ticket are required along with any ID proof. In India usually, an Aadhar card as proof is preferred. The boarding ticket collected during check-in at the airport is essential. 
While going on an international flight documents like a passport and boarding ticket are required. The passport acts as an ID proof. For some countries carrying a visa is also essential.

Boarding Process

In this blog, we will cover every detail from entering the airport to reaching the destination city. Since I recently boarded a flight I” ll share my experience. After carrying all my essential documents I reached the airport 3 hours before the boarding started.

Entry inside the terminal: The security at the airport gates checked for the confirmation of my flight ticket with my ID proof. Usually, large airport terminals have a long queue waiting to enter the airport. 

Baggage screening, check-in, and Boarding pass: After successfully entering the airport I started looking for my airline’s counter. Since I was traveling by Indigo airline I reached its counter where I deposited my luggage after weighing it. They put it on weight machine and put a tag on it. The airport cabin looked for my ID proof and handed me my boarding ticket. Then I went to security check-in.

Security check-in: When I entered first step was to go to security guard they will check you and then check the counter number to proceed . In india we need to remove all the electronic products This process always takes a lot of time therefore there are always long queues for security check-in. It almost took me more than an hour to get security checked. I looked for my boarding gate number on the TV screen and started heading towards it.

Immigration clearance: While moving through the corridors of the airport towards my boarding gate. I crossed the food court where I found my favorite fast food outlet. I grabbed some snacks from there and started heading towards the boarding gate. When I reached the boarding gate I found that the boarding was about to start in about 10 to 15 minutes. After the boarding started I got myself in the queue where an airport cabin was checking the boarding tickets. 

Final boarding: This process takes less than a minute but waiting in the long queue takes time. A bus came and took everyone to the flight where an air hostess greeted me and took my boarding ticket. She removed the corner portion of the ticket and returned it to me. I went to my seat number and sit after putting luggage in cabin above my head.

Immigration at Departure: Soon the plane took off and in two hours I reached 

my destination city. Before landing the air hostess told everyone their belt number. 

When the airplane landed a bus was already waiting to take everyone to the airport terminal.

Luggage collection and exiting the terminal: I started searching for the belt number which was told by the air hostess on the plane. After 10 minutes of waiting for my luggage, I picked up my luggage from the belt and started moving towards the exit gates to get out of the airport.

Everyday items prohibited on Aircraft

You should not carry few items in flight as these are the restricted items by Airport Authorities. Here is the list of restricted items.

• Rifles and guns 
• Any type of fuel
• No long tools
• Spray paints
• No sharp objects like knives
• Anything explosive like fireworks
• Any self-defense items like paper spray
• Sports equipment like baseball bats and skis
• Flammable solids or liquids like lighter or matchsticks
• You should not carry alcohol with you more than allowed limit

When to reach the airport for check-in?

The airport allows check-in around 8 hours before boarding time of the flight. On average reaching the airport around 2 to 3 hours is a must. The boarding closes a few minutes before therefore any delay can lead to missing your flight. Airports with just one terminal allow passengers if they are late as there are no long queues for security check-in.

Baggage Guidelines for the flights

You should always check the weight of your luggage to avoid extra payment. Cabin luggage is the bag you carry with you in flight. It can include some personal items and fragile electronic devices like laptops. Check in Baggage is the luggage which you deposit with the airline and normally it is the big one. It contains all the stuff one carries with themselves. 
For a domestic flight the maximum weight of a cabin suitcase for an adult can be 7 kgs while for a check-in suitcase, the maximum weight should be 15 kilograms for an adult. For an international flight the maximum weight of the cabin baggage can be 7 kilograms for an adult while the weight of the check-in luggage can be up to 20 kilograms per adult.

Shopping or Dining at the Airport

There are many shops available at the airport terminals in every category as the passengers spend hours waiting for their flights. You will find few shops on small airports but big airports have many shops The items available in the shops at the airport are a bit more expensive than the usual ones as the shops have to pay a high rent to the airport authorities.
Airport terminals have separate food courts where different food catalogs are present. The proper seating arrangement is provided. Besides, airports do have lounges where dining and other facilities are available.

How to get Lounge access at the Airport

Accessing the airport lounge is similar to witnessing an experience of luxury travel. Most of the lounges are available for24*7. Facilities like premium food, free wifi, bars, modern showers and steam, massage centers, restrooms, and halls for business meetings are provided. There are a few ways that can allow you to access these airport lounge facilities that too free of cost. Some of these listed are:

• Many airlines grant access to the lounge to their cardholders
• Premium travel cards provide lounge access
• Any membership for accessing the lounge 
• International business class provides lounge access at the airport

Apart from this if any person wants to access the lounge the facility of direct payment by a credit card is possible. This allows you to access the lounge and enjoy the facilities inside it. The average cost of accessing the lounge in India is between 900 to 1500 rupees exclusive of tax for 3 hours per person. 

You can use Day pass if multiple lounges are available on airport. This pass is valid for a day only. You can also use priority pass but it is valid only for few hours. The economy class does not permit any lounge access or facilities. 

Other tips for first-time travelers

If you are traveling for the first time on a flight do keep to following points in mind:

• Reach the airport on time as boarding closes 20 minutes before
• Carry a hard or soft copy of the confirmation ticket and ID proof in your hand luggage
• Pay attention to the signs and directions at the airport
• Switch off your electronic device while takeoff and landing
• Download the travel application of the airline on your mobile if required
• Do not misplace the boarding ticket as it is very essential
• Some countries require you to carry local currency so read about the traveling requirements in case of international travel
