The Statue of Unity is situated in the Ekta Nagar section of Gujrat which was earlier known as Kevadiya and it falls in the Narmada district of Gujrat. It is situated on the banks of the mighty Narmada river, which can be seen just behind the statue of unity. 

To reach the statue of unity you can choose to travel by bus, train, or by flight. If you are traveling by train, the nearest railway station from the statue of unity is the “Ekta Nagar Railway Station”. Although you might not get a direct train from your station to Ekta Nagar railway station since very few trains stop here. The other option can is to reach Ahemdabad or Vadodra by train and from there you can take a bus which will drop you directly near the statue of unity. 

If you are planning to come by flight, then the nearest airport from the statue of unity is the Vadodra Airport. After reaching Vadodra airport you will have to take a bus to reach the statue of unity.

Buses are available from Ahemdabad which will drop you just a few meters from the statue of unity. When coming from Ahemdabad, you can take the bus from the “Geeta Mandir Bus stand” directly to “The Statue of Unity”. 

The cost of the bus from Ahemdabad to the Statue of Unity is Rs 304 per person for AC Bus and Rs 150 per person for Non AC bus. The timing of bus is between 6:00-6:30 in the morning which will drop you at the statue of unity at around 11:00 am. Only one bus is available every day from this station.

When coming from Vadodra, the cost of the bus from Vadodra to the Statue of Unity is Rs 145 per person for an AC bus and Rs 53 per person for Non AC bus. The timing of bus is between 7:30-8:00 in the morning which will drop you at the statue of unity at around 11:00 am. Only one bus is available from Vadodra every day.

Although you can book the ticket at Ahemdabad and Vadodra bus stands it is recommended to book the bus tickets in advance since there is less availability of seats and an advanced booking will ensure your seat.

It is very easy to reach the Statue of Unity and if you are planning to visit only the statue of unity then you can return on the same day from the same bus which returns at around 4:00 p.m. So, you can return to Ahemdabad or Vadodra, in the same manner, you came in the morning.

When you reach the Statue of Unity, to your surprise you won’t find any hotel rooms near the place. The only hotels available are of high cost which is not worth taking. The reason for the unavailability of hotels near the statue of unity is that people don’t stay in this area of Ekta Nagar. They just visit the Statue of Unity and return the same day. Thus, we also suggest you do the same. But, if you are willing to stay here then you can find hotel rooms or guest facility at about 6 km away from the Statue of unity. 

Now the question arises what if you have luggage with you? Where to drop it? This facility is provided by the government. Just near the Statue of Unity at the bus stand, you can find a luggage counter where you can drop all your luggage completely free of cost and then visit the Statue of unity with ease. 

The luggage counter at the bus stand is completely free of cost and its timings are from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm.

Inside the Statue of Unity Complex (Entry and Around)

From the bus stand where the bus will drop you, only a few meters ahead is the complex of the Statue of unity. You can just walk to that complex or there is also the availability of a pink rickshaw at the bus station which is driven only by women.

The cost of these rickshaws is Rs 50 in which they will show you around the famous things near the statue of unity.

The ticket for visiting the statue of unity is easily available at the bus stand. Although it might be crowded sometimes, usually you can get the ticket within a few minutes of waiting in line. 

The cost of the ticket for the statue of unity is Rs 150 per person where you will get access only to the floor which means till the foot of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. Another category of ticket costs Rs 380 in which you can go above the top of the complex of the statue of unity and take a look around. You can also book an online ticket for the Statue of Unity which is also recommended since you might find a rush sometimes at the ticket counter.

After walking for about 50 to 100 meters you will reach the entrance gate of the statue of unity. You will get a particular time slot of two hours for visiting the statue of unity. You will have to stand in the queue according to your time slot. Before that time, you can just roam around and have a look at the beautiful Narmada river and other things inside the complex. 

As you enter the complex of the statue of unity you will find it surrounded by beautiful gardens which are a delight to watch. After this, you can also check out a grand food court where you can find food to eat. Although the food at the food court is quite expensive from the outside. You can also bring your food inside the complex of the statue of unity. 

If you are a senior citizen or you are planning to come with a senior citizen or a physically challenged person, then there is also the availability of wheelchairs which are easily available inside the complex. So, you can make use of them for senior citizens and physically challenged persons. 

Visiting the Statue of Unity Book Your Tickets From Here

You need to get in the queue when your respective time slot is available. Firstly, you will go through a security check and then will be allowed inside the corridor where the great statue of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel is built. 

Camera and other electronic items are not prohibited inside the Statue of unity complex or corridor. So, you can take as many pictures with the statue as you want. 

The Statue of Unity is closed on Monday and can be visited only from Tuesday to Sunday. The timings to visit the Statue of Unity are from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.

You can witness the gigantic statue to the fullest and also see the huge river Narmada just behind the complex of the Statue of unity. Along with this, if you are not returning on the same day, you can enjoy the laser show and sound show which take place every day at 7:00 pm. 

If you have taken a ticket of Rs 150 then this is all you can enjoy and reach only the foot of the statue. But if you have taken a ticket of Rs 380 then you are allowed access to the huge 45-floor building of the Statue of Unity. This is known as the viewing gallery of the statue of unity. After entering the viewing gallery, a lift will take you to the topmost floor of the building. In about 45 seconds you will be on the 45th floor of the building. Here you will be briefed about the history and making of the statue of unity for about 2 to 3 minutes. 

From the top of the building, you can enjoy the view of the beautiful Narmada river along with the entire things around which seems great from such a height.

Apart from this, you can try out certain Dhabas which you can find just in front of the statue of unity complex.

Other Places to visit around the Statue of Unity

Along with the Statue of Unity, there are so many other places you can visit around it. These places include Jungle Safar, Pet zone, Ekta nursery, Cactus Garden, and much more. 

When you visit the statue of unity, if the flow of the Narmada river is not much and favorable you can try out water sports like rafting in the Narmada river. River rafting can be done at a place called Khalwani. Along with this, there is also a cruise boat that can be enjoyed in the Narmada river. Although, these water activities take place only if the flow of river Narmada is favorable.

Visiting the statue of unity is quite cheap and an in-budget trip. Apart from the meals and ticket, there isn’t any extra cost which you have to pay. If you are planning to visit only the statue of unity, then just a one-day trip is enough for it.
