Mussoorie is a hill station which is situated in Uttarakhand India. It is 35 Km from Dehradun which is the capital of Uttarakhand. The Name Mussoorie is derived from the word Mansur which was a shrub found in this area and people started pronouncing it as Mansuri.

How To Reach By Air

The closest airport to Mussoorie is the Jolly Grant Airport which is located about 55 KMT away in Dehradun. Flights are available directly from Delhi, which is the capital of India. The price from Delhi To Dehradun starts from 2100 Rs. Mussoorie don’t have its own airport. How To Reach By Bus

Mussoorie Is a hill station and it has a bus stop which is directly connected from Dehradun, which is the capital of Uttarakhand. The ISBT and SDTC offer bus services from Kashmiri Gate bus stop in Delhi to Mussoorie. There are overnight non-deluxe and deluxe bus services and many others . There are multiple buses that ply throughout the day between Mussoorie and Dehradun. Buses usually halt at Library Bus Stand in Mussoorie, coming from different cities. Best Time To Visit

Mussoorie temperature is good throughout the year, as it is a hill station so mostly people prefer summers season to visit. I have Visited Mussoorie in all the seasons and My favorite is Monsoon season. In monsoon season Mussoorie weather looks really beautiful as clouds are down views are good. In winter season you may see snowfall here. If you are planning a trip in monsoon you need to check weather’s predictions as landslide may occur.

Where To Stay

It is a small and beautiful hill station. The main area is mall road just like other hill stations. There are many hotels in Mussoorie on Mall road but you should not book hotels in mall road, as these are expensive and views are not good.
Hotels : There are multiple hotels I stayed in La Casa By aasana Which was decent hotel and which was on Harnam singh road. You will find many hotel near this place and rates are decent.
Hostel : There are many hostels in Mussoorie like zoster where you can stay if you are solo on your trip.
Homestay : There are many home stays in Mussoorie, you can check Agoda for same.

Best Places to Visit


Day 1
I am assuming you will reach here by 10 or 11 Am so After Check In you can visit Mall Road and Visit Gun Point For Sun Set.

Mall road is one of the main attractions of Mussoorie. Mall Road is the main area to have fun, eat food, do shopping and do a walk with your partner or loved ones. In most of the hill stations there is a mall road, where all the major shops and restaurants are located. This mall road is not like Shimla here you can reach by car and it is not restricted but shops closes after 11 PM.

Gun Point

This point offers offers unparalleled views all over , the Doon Valley and the Garhwal Himalayas. Gun Hill is the second-highest point in Mussoorie. From the summit, one can see views of the rolling green hills of the Doon Valley in all directions. To Reach at top you can either take a ropeway or go by walk. The Price is almost 75 Rs.

Day 2

Kempty Falls

This waterfall is one of the main tourist attractions in Mussoorie. It is 15 Km away from main city. This fall is on the way to Yamunotri. You can bath here, changing rooms are available. There is no Entry fee for this beautiful milky look waterfall. It opens i n day time only, mostly you will not be allowed to stay here after 5 PM.

Bhatta Falls

Bhatta Falls in Mussoorie is a famous picnic spot and a popular tourist attraction. Located at a distance of about 10.5 KM from Library Bus Stand, You can reach here with your Scotty or take a cable ride worth Rs 150. This place has lot of adventure activities. This place is perfect for picnic, If you are coming with family this place is must visit for you. Eating Meggie inside the waterfall is the main attraction of this point.

George Everest Trek

George Everest House is situated about 6 kms from Gandhi Chowk in Mussoorie and one of the major tourist attractions, which is secluded and peaceful. This point has a small trek to reach at the top and best for sunset. The roads to this point is slippery in rainy and winter season so you need to be careful while riding here.

Day 3
On This Day Either You Can Explore Lal Tibba, Camel’s Back Road, mussoorie lake, company garden Or You Can Do a road trip to Dhanaulti.

Activities To Do

There is no river rafting or any other major adventure activity, You can do ropeway ride, Zipline and few activities in Bhatta waterfall. You can do a road trip to Dhanaulti. Dhanualti has camping and few activies like paragliding to do. If you are a religious person you can go to Surkunda devi temple which is very popular and one of the shaktipeeth. You can do boating shikara ride and some other activities at Mussoorie Lake.

What To Eat

We Visited Mussoorie in the month of November when it was cold, though we are not foodies but we loved moms, there was a shop of north indian pure vegetarian while returning from lal tibba and the mons there were so delicious. If you are vegetrian like us you can try thli near library chowk which was of Rs 60 and worthful. Some famous food here are non veg.

Is Mussoorie For Solo Girl Traveler

If you are a female and want to travel solo in Mussoorie, its good decision. You can travel here just reach in your hotel before it gets dark and if you are planning to rome on mall road in night try to book your stay on mall road.

How To Hire Scotty/Bike

In Mussoorie you can hire scotty from bike rental shops or ask your hotel people to arrange it. Normally you may find it in 600 Rs per day petrol will be extra. You must have DL and one more Original Id to deposit with the owner.

Other Tips

ATMs : Mussoorie has ATMs you can withdraw cash from mall road or library chowk.

Petrol Pumps : Petrol pumps are limited so you should fill the tank from library chowk to avoid any mishappening

How Many Days In Mussoorie

Normally 3 days 2 nights are enough to explore Mussoorie but you can extent it to 3 nights 4 days to cover fully.
